Ray Jones, a 65-year-old man from Franklinton, Louisiana, was tragically killed on June 27, 1977. His death was part of a larger crime spree carried out by Paul Ruiz and Earl Van Denton, who had recently escaped from the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester. Ruiz and Van Denton were responsible for multiple murders across several states, including Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
