Detective Joseph C. Thomas, aged 31, was a dedicated officer with the New Orleans Police Department. On July 18, 1996, Detective Thomas was shot and killed while serving a search warrant at a house located at 1118 St. Andrew Street, which was believed to be involved in narcotics trafficking.
