On March 21, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Sumter, South Carolina, resulting in the death of 6-year-old Aason Holliday-Slacks. Aason was among three children fatally shot while sleeping in their beds. The perpetrator, identified as 42-year-old Charles Slacks, entered the residence using a key, proceeded to the backyard where he shot and killed 38-year-old Command Sergeant Major Carlos Evans, and then moved inside to commit the heinous acts against the children.
