Burton James "Burt" LeBlanc, a 30-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, was a dedicated police officer with the Jennings Police Department in Louisiana. On February 5, 2000, Officer LeBlanc responded to a 911 call for a medical emergency in the 1600 block of North Cutting Street in Jennings. As he and two other officers approached the scene, the suspect, a former police officer, opened fire with a revolver.
