In the early morning hours of October 28, 2016, the life of 20-year-old Kayn Jontae Deshotel, an African American male, was tragically cut short in his Jennings, Louisiana home. Police received a 911 call around 5 a.m. reporting a shooting on Spencer Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Deshotel inside his residence with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
