In the summer of 2005, a young man's life was tragically cut short in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Herschel Kareem Abdul Jabar Romel Owens, a 22-year-old native of Thibodaux, was residing in the city when he was killed on Friday, June 17, 2005. The incident, which was investigated as a suspected armed robbery that turned into a homicide, ended in Owens being fatally shot.
