In the early morning hours of January 8, 2026, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a Baton Rouge neighborhood, leaving a young man dead and a community searching for answers. The incident unfolded at the intersection of Alaska and West Roosevelt Streets, where police responded to reports of a shooting around 8:30 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered the body of 27-year-old Alfred Webester Hyams, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
