On a vibrant Mardi Gras evening in New Orleans, the celebration was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of Kiran Jamal Harris. The 22-year-old man was in the 7th Ward, at the intersection of North Roman and Laharpe streets, when he was shot in the head at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal.
