Nicholas Carter, a 27-year-old male, was tragically killed in a shooting incident that unfolded in the 7th Ward of New Orleans on the evening of April 19, 2022. The events that led to his untimely death took place in the 2400 block of A.P. Tureaud Avenue, where another individual was also injured in the gunfire.
Responding to the sound of gunshots in the area, New Orleans Police Department officers arrived at the scene to find two male victims who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Both men were immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Sadly, Nicholas Carter succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The second victim was treated for his injuries.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, police detained a person of interest at the scene for questioning. This individual was later identified as Montreal Baham. Following an investigation by homicide detectives, Baham was determined to be the perpetrator of the shooting.
Montreal Baham was subsequently arrested and faced serious charges, including one count of second-degree murder for the death of Nicholas Carter and one count of attempted second-degree murder for the injury of the other victim. The investigation suggested that the incident was isolated and not connected to other ongoing investigations in the city.
