In the late morning of August 10, 2013, the community in the 2300 block of Division Street in Metairie, Louisiana, was shattered by a brutal act of violence. Tracy Thu Nguyen, a 24-year-old woman of Vietnamese descent, was tragically killed. Neighbors watched in horror as her fiancé, 24-year-old Jamaal Edwards, chased her out of their shared apartment and shot her in the street.
