On the evening of November 27, 2013, a domestic dispute in Houma, Louisiana, tragically escalated, ending the life of 20-year-old Lorenzo Jamal Porche. The incident unfolded in the 200 block of Naquin Street, where Porche resided with his mother. Authorities from the Houma Police Department were dispatched to the residence around 7:20 p.m. following reports of a disturbance.
As officers arrived at the scene, the sound of gunfire rang out, directing them to a grim discovery.
They found Lorenzo Porche lying on the ground, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Standing near a vehicle with a weapon in his hand was 37-year-old LaMont Mosley. Mosley was in a relationship with Porche's mother and had been living at the home. The conflict that evening began as a verbal argument after Mosley made the decision to move out of the residence he shared with the family. The disagreement intensified, culminating in Mosley drawing a weapon and shooting Porche.
Lorenzo Jamal Porche died at the scene. The officers who witnessed the immediate aftermath of the shooting swiftly took LaMont Mosley into custody. He was arrested without further incident and faced a charge of second-degree murder for his role in the fatal encounter. Following his arrest, Mosley was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex to be booked and jailed.
