In March of 2014, a dispute on La Margie Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, tragically cut short the life of 24-year-old Emanuelle Le'Oscar Myles. Known to friends and family as 'Big Man,' Emanuelle was a native and resident of the city, where he worked as a scaffold builder. On the evening of the incident, a fight broke out, and in the ensuing chaos, gunfire erupted into a crowd of people.
Emanuelle Myles was fatally shot during the incident and passed away on March 19, 2014, at Our Lady
of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Another individual, a 19-year-old, was also injured in the shooting. The investigation into the senseless act of violence quickly pointed to a then 17-year-old, Brandon Boyd, as the person responsible for the shooting.
In the days following the shooting, Brandon Boyd was arrested and charged with the murder of Emanuelle Myles. Two years later, in March of 2016, a jury found Boyd guilty of second-degree murder for his role in Myles's death. The conviction brought a measure of justice to the family of Emanuelle Myles, whose life was tragically ended in a moment of violence.
