In the early morning hours of July 1, 2014, the life of 21-year-old Kevon Bobb of New Iberia, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Saint-Martinville, Louisiana. Authorities responded to reports of gunshots on Gov. Mouton Street and discovered Bobb deceased in the back seat of a vehicle. He had been shot.
As officers arrived at the scene, they witnessed a vehicle attempting to flee.
A brief pursuit ended when the car came to a sudden stop, and two Black men exited the vehicle, escaping on foot into the surrounding area. Inside the abandoned car, law enforcement found Kevon Bobb.
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office took the lead in the investigation into Bobb's death. In the immediate aftermath, they appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of the two men who fled the scene.
