In the summer of 2014, the life of William David Carroll, a 48-year-old man, was abruptly ended in his Shreveport, Louisiana home. On July 28th, events unfolded that led to his untimely death, turning a residence into a crime scene and leaving a community in search of answers. The incident began when two individuals reportedly entered Carroll's home on Holly Street in what authorities would later describe as an apparent robbery attempt.
During the course of the home invasion, a struggle
ensued. Carroll was with a male friend inside the house when the perpetrators, one of whom was armed with a handgun, made their entry. At some point during the confrontation, a shot was fired, striking William David Carroll in the chest. The suspects fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a fatal scene. When law enforcement arrived, Carroll was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death of William David Carroll quickly progressed, and within a couple of days, Shreveport police identified two men as persons of interest. Arrest warrants were issued for 35-year-old Kinoy Damon Singleton and 41-year-old Robert Lynn. Not long after their names were released to the public, both men surrendered to authorities and were taken into custody.
Following their arrests, the two suspects faced charges related to the home invasion and killing. Kinoy Damon Singleton was charged with second-degree murder. Robert Lynn faced a charge of principal to second-degree murder. Both men were booked into the Caddo Correctional Center as the legal process against them began.
