Death by Force

On January 1, 2014, 13-year-old Lee Weathersby III was fatally shot in East Oakland while walking home from a New Year's Eve event at the Boys and Girls Club. He was only two blocks away from his home when he was attacked. Police believe that Lee may not have been the intended target of the shooting. His death marked the first homicide of 2014 in Oakland, deeply impacting his middle school, Alliance Academy.
