In the warm evening of June 18, 2015, a burst of violence shattered the life of Phillip Noel Thornabar, a 25-year-old Black/African American man, in the 7th Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was discovered inside a vehicle, having been fatally wounded by gunfire. Emergency services responded to the scene, but Thornabar succumbed to his injuries. The New Orleans Police Department initiated an investigation into the shooting, piecing together the events that led to the young man's untimely
death. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later officially identified Thornabar as the victim.
A graduate of New Iberia High School, Phillip was engaged to be married and was a stepfather. His death left his family, including his father, siblings, aunts, uncles, and numerous nieces and nephews, to grapple with the sudden and tragic loss.
