In the early hours of a Sunday morning in a quiet, rural area of Baker, Louisiana, a gathering of friends and family turned into a scene of immense tragedy. Mark Wade Allen, a 51-year-old male, was killed on September 13, 2015, in a violent outburst that also claimed the lives of his two older brothers, 57-year-old Joseph Allen and 55-year-old Perry Allen.
The three brothers had been enjoying a get-together with neighbors, watching a Louisiana State University football game and singing karaoke, when a dispute shattered the friendly atmosphere.
The evening took a dark turn following an argument reportedly over the music being played at the party. The suspect in the killings was identified as 60-year-old Rodney Chemin. After the disagreement, the Allen brothers and Chemin left the gathering. The four men were later discovered deceased in the driveway of Chemin's home around 12:30 a.m. The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide.
According to the investigation, Rodney Chemin shot the three brothers before turning the gun on himself. An autopsy revealed that two of the brothers died from single gunshot wounds to the chest, while the third was shot multiple times. Since the perpetrator, Rodney Chemin, took his own life at the scene, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths of the Allen brothers. The sister of the victims, Patricia Allen, later stated her belief that the act was not a spontaneous escalation of an argument but a premeditated attack, claiming that Chemin had waited for her brothers in the bushes and shot them one by one. However, with all involved parties deceased, investigators acknowledged that the precise sequence of events may never be definitively known.
