In a tragic turn of events on a quiet Sunday, a dispute over something as simple as music escalated into a horrific act of violence that claimed the lives of four men, including 55-year-old Perry Allen. The incident, which unfolded in the early morning hours of September 13, 2015, in a driveway in East Baton Rouge Parish, left a community in shock and a family shattered by the loss of three brothers.
That evening, Perry Allen and his two brothers, Joseph Allen, 57, and Mark Allen, 51,
were at a neighbor's home, enjoying a football game. An argument broke out with the homeowner, 60-year-old Rodney Chemin, reportedly over the choice of music being played. The disagreement festered, leading the four men to leave the gathering. The conflict, however, did not end there.
In the driveway of Chemin's residence on Talmadge Crumholt Road, the altercation reached its fatal conclusion. It was there that authorities later discovered the bodies of the three Allen brothers and Chemin. Investigators determined that the incident was a murder-suicide, with Chemin as the suspected shooter. It is believed that Chemin shot the three brothers before turning the gun on himself.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding the four deceased men around 12:30 a.m. and found all four individuals in the driveway. The subsequent investigation confirmed the motive stemmed from the earlier dispute at the neighbor's home. As the perpetrator died at the scene, there were no arrests to be made in connection with the deaths of Perry, Joseph, and Mark Allen, leaving their loved ones to grapple with the sudden and senseless loss.
