A quiet Sunday morning in Baker, Louisiana, was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of Joseph Allen and his two brothers. The 57-year-old man was killed on September 13, 2015, in a tragic murder-suicide that stemmed from a disagreement at a social gathering.
The evening before the incident, Joseph Allen, along with his brothers Perry Allen, 55, and Mark Allen, 51, were at a neighbor's house watching a football game.
An argument reportedly erupted over the music being played. The dispute escalated, and the three brothers, along with their neighbor, 60-year-old Rodney Chemin, left the get-together.
The Allen brothers followed Chemin to his home on Talmadge Crumholt Road. It was there, in the driveway of Chemin's residence, that the argument took a fatal turn. Chemin armed himself and opened fire on the three brothers, killing them all. Following the shooting, Rodney Chemin took his own life. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and confirmed the four men were deceased in what was determined to be a murder-suicide. The investigation concluded that the argument over music was the catalyst for the tragic events that unfolded.
