Cornel L. Woods, a 42-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed outside his home in Kenner, Louisiana, on October 7, 2015. Woods had recently returned to the New Orleans area after spending a decade in Houston, Texas, to care for his mother and help remodel her home. He was a carpenter by trade. On the night of his death, Kenner police officers found Woods lying outside his home, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
