On a Friday afternoon in Kenner, Louisiana, the life of 30-year-old Remus Lambert, a male, was tragically cut short. On May 3, 2019, Lambert was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Idaho Avenue. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Lambert's death quickly focused on a suspect believed to be the ex-boyfriend of the woman Lambert was dating at the time.
The Kenner Police Department identified Markeno Johnson, then 31, as the individual responsible for the fatal shooting. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was subsequently taken into custody and booked with one count of second-degree murder.
The motive for the shooting appeared to be a dispute over the relationship between Lambert and his girlfriend. Johnson, the former boyfriend, allegedly confronted and shot Lambert in the apartment complex parking lot. The case proceeded through the legal system, and in November 2021, Markeno Johnson was convicted of manslaughter by a Jefferson Parish jury. Following his conviction, he was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the death of Remus Lambert.
