Street, where an argument between Sammie and his younger brother, Solomon Banks, took a tragic turn. During the altercation, Solomon, then 51, pulled out a revolver and shot his older brother in the chest. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Sammie Banks was transported to a local hospital, but the single gunshot wound proved to be fatal, and he later died.
Following the shooting, investigators quickly identified Solomon Banks as the perpetrator. He was apprehended without incident inside a home in the 1800 block of Second Street. During questioning, Solomon confessed to the killing of his brother. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Central Lockup on one count of second-degree murder.
