Bernell Collins Sr., a 36-year-old African American man from New Orleans, LA, tragically died on October 1, 2016. His death was the result of a shooting incident that occurred during a standoff with the New Orleans Police Department SWAT team. Collins was found dead inside an apartment on Lyons Street after a four-hour standoff. The incident began when Collins' family reported that they hadn't seen him since Thursday and called the police out of concern.
