Levar Williams, a 36-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on the evening of Monday, October 17, 2016, in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans. The incident was one of two separate deadly shootings that occurred in the city that night.

Around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3000 block of Pauger Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Williams inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim, a 42-y ...
