In the afternoon hours of a late October day in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 21-year-old Quincy Terrell Randle, an African American male, was tragically cut short. On October 28, 2016, in the Cedar Grove neighborhood, a sense of normalcy was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Quincy was standing with others near a residence in the 900 block of Babylon Street when a blue or silver sedan, occupied by several males, approached.
Without warning, multiple armed individuals exited the
vehicle and began firing into the group. The sudden and violent eruption of chaos left three men wounded. In the aftermath of the drive-by shooting, Quincy was rushed to University Health hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. Two other young men, 21-year-old Michael Cooper and 20-year-old Tamario Jenkins, also sustained gunshot wounds but their injuries were not life-threatening.
The Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit immediately descended upon the scene to begin the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to Quincy's death. Investigators worked tirelessly to gather details from the tragic ordeal, appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible. A reward was offered for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement and the pleas from a grieving family and community, the case has grown cold. The individuals who drove down Babylon Street that day and opened fire, forever altering the lives of many, have yet to be brought to justice. No arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Quincy Randle, and the investigation remains unsolved.
