In the summer of 1972, 18-year-old James Colin Egan, known to some as Colin, was making his way back home to Mequon, Wisconsin. On August 6th, he made a phone call to his family from San Francisco, California. He told them he was planning to hitchhike to Denver, Colorado, and from there, he would catch a flight back to Wisconsin, expecting to be home within a week.
