In the early hours of Christmas Eve in 2016, a tragic event unfolded in Raceland, Louisiana, that would claim the life of a young man. Rashyad King, a 21-year-old male, was fatally wounded in a shooting that occurred at approximately 3:25 a.m. in the 100 block of Brocato Lane. At the time of the incident, King was a passenger in a vehicle, accompanied by two friends.

A single bullet pierced the rear passenger side door of the vehicle from the outside, striking King in the back of the head. His friends rushed him to Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital.
