In the late morning of a Tuesday in Raceland, Louisiana, a heated argument shattered the quiet of Wilson Street, culminating in the tragic death of 46-year-old Chad Ingram. On March 11, 2025, Lafourche Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a shooting around 11:15 a.m. and discovered Ingram suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services airlifted him to University Medical Center in New Orleans, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The alleged shooter, 19-year-old
Kody Cheramie, also of Raceland, was still at the scene when law enforcement arrived. Deputies took him into custody without incident and secured his firearm. The investigation that followed suggested that a verbal altercation between Cheramie and Ingram escalated dramatically, leading Cheramie to brandish a firearm and shoot Ingram multiple times.
Following his arrest, Cheramie was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. He has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Chad Ingram.
