On a February evening in Monroe, Louisiana, the life of a young woman was tragically cut short. Jaquarrius Holland, an 18-year-old Black transgender woman, was shot and killed on February 19, 2017. The incident occurred around 8:00 PM on Grammont Street, where officers responded to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Holland with a single gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
