In the late summer of 2019, the life of a vibrant 19-year-old woman, Demeisha LaShay Hines, was tragically cut short in Monroe, Louisiana. Known for her beautiful smile and love for dancing, the young African American woman was a cherished member of her community. Hines, born on January 19, 2000, had been a co-captain of the dance team at Berg Jones Elementary and had attended Carroll Junior High and Carroll High School. She was working at Newk's of West Monroe at the time of her death.
