In a tragic and senseless act of violence, 20-year-old Anteshia Mony Logwood lost her life on a Thursday evening in Monroe, Louisiana. The young woman was fatally shot by her neighbor, Brittany Tucker, at their apartment complex in what police described as a murder-suicide. Logwood's death was the grim prelude to an even greater tragedy that would unfold moments later.
The incident began when Tucker, who witnesses later said had been exhibiting irrational behavior in the days prior,
approached Logwood and made a bizarre comment. When Logwood dismissed the remark, Tucker produced a handgun she had recently purchased and shot her. The single gunshot ended Logwood’s life, but the violence was far from over.
After killing Logwood, Tucker proceeded to her own apartment where her four young children were waiting. In an unimaginable act, she shot and killed each of them: 12-year-old Tremayne Tucker, 8-year-old Trechelle Tucker, 5-year-old Treasure Tucker, and 5-month-old Glory Tucker. Before law enforcement could arrive at the scene, Brittany Tucker then turned the gun on herself, ending her own life.
Authorities later revealed that Tucker had been suffering from mental health issues. The horrific event left the community in shock and mourning the loss of six lives, including the innocent life of Anteshia Mony Logwood, an unwitting victim in a devastating murder-suicide. Since the perpetrator died by her own hand, there were no arrests or trials to follow, leaving a community to grapple with the unfathomable loss.
