In the late hours of a Wednesday night in New Iberia, Louisiana, the community was shaken by a string of violence that left one man dead and a neighborhood on edge. On November 15, 2017, 37-year-old Davon Thompson, a Black male, was fatally shot at the corner of Mississippi and Cletus Streets. His death was the culmination of a violent night that saw deputies responding to two other calls of shots fired on Mississippi Street earlier in the evening.
