An ongoing dispute between two men in Denham Springs, Louisiana, escalated to a fatal conclusion in the early morning hours of May 9, 2018. Billy Forrest, a 42-year-old male, was shot once in the abdomen around 6 a.m. in the Eastover Estates neighborhood. He was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified a suspect, 24-year-old Daniel Roberts Jr. According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, the shooting was the culmination of a persistent argument between Roberts and Forrest. Later that same day, detectives with the Sheriff's Office located and apprehended Roberts on La Trace Road in French Settlement. He was subsequently arrested and faced charges for his alleged role in Forrest's death.
In the course of their investigation, law enforcement officials made several other arrests connected to the case. These individuals faced a range of charges, including obstruction of justice, as well as various drug and firearm offenses. Following his arrest, a grand jury in Livingston Parish indicted Daniel Roberts Jr. on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Billy Forrest. His bond was set at $150,000.
