In the spring of 2018, Herbert Foster III, a 35-year-old man from New Orleans, found his life tragically cut short. On the evening of May 13, 2018, what should have been a festive Mother's Day ended in violence in the Gentilly neighborhood. As a second-line parade was concluding, gunfire erupted, and Foster was fatally wounded. He was discovered in the street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
