On the night of July 4, 2018, in Carencro, Louisiana, 18-year-old Benorian Leonard, an African American male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 11:47 p.m. in the 100 block of Lindsey Circle. When Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, they found Leonard, who was pronounced dead.

Known affectionately as 'Ben' or 'NoNo,' Leonard had been a resident of Carencro for the last decade of his life. He was a student at Carencro High School and also worked at a tract ...
