On a summer evening in Carencro, Louisiana, the life of Joseph Warren Collins, a 44-year-old African American man, was cut short. On June 12, 2014, Collins was fatally shot, his death leaving a void in the lives of his family and friends. A native of Arnaudville and a resident of Opelousas, he was known as a compassionate and lovable person, regarded by some as the "world's best brother/father figure."
