In the late summer of 2018 in Raceland, Louisiana, a series of violent events culminated in the death of 38-year-old Timon Nash, a Black/African American man. The initial incident unfolded shortly after midnight on August 24th, when Nash was involved in an altercation that resulted in him being shot in the forearm. While this initial shooting was not fatal, it set a grim precedent for what was to come.
Just a day later, in the early morning hours of August 25, 2018, deputies from the
Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office were called to the 200 block of Williams Street in Raceland. There, they discovered Timon Nash, who had been shot multiple times. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The investigation into the two shootings began to unravel a contentious relationship. Authorities identified 50-year-old Dontrell Bryant of Raceland as the suspect in the initial, non-fatal shooting. According to the investigation, Bryant and Nash had a brief verbal dispute that escalated, leading Bryant to allegedly shoot Nash in the forearm. Bryant later turned himself in to authorities on August 28, 2018, and was arrested for attempted second-degree murder in connection with the August 24th incident.
Despite the arrest in the first shooting, the investigation into Timon Nash's murder on August 25th continued. To date, no suspects have been publicly named, and no arrests have been made in connection with his death. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office has continued to ask for the public's assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward. The case of who is responsible for the death of Timon Nash remains unresolved.
