In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in New Orleans, the life of 58-year-old Olah Bessid was tragically cut short. On September 18, 2018, Bessid was working at the Fuel Express Mart on Hayne Boulevard in the Little Woods neighborhood when two individuals entered the store in an attempted robbery. The encounter turned violent, and Bessid was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The New Orleans Police Department quickly launched an investigation.
The day after the shooting, one of the suspects, Farnell Jackson, Jr., turned himself in to the authorities after seeing his own image being circulated by the police as a person of interest in the case. Jackson was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder for his alleged role in the death of Olah Bessid.
The search for the second suspect continued. A couple of months later, in November 2018, the NOPD identified 25-year-old Frank Sams, Jr. as the other individual involved in the fatal robbery. An arrest warrant was issued for Sams, also on a charge of second-degree murder. At that time, police were actively searching for him and sought the public's assistance in locating him. The resolution of the charges against both Farnell Jackson, Jr., and the outcome of the search for Frank Sams, Jr., remain publicly undisclosed.
