On a January evening in New Orleans, 59-year-old Darren Isom was in the wrong place at the unfortunate time. He was standing outside a bar in the Leonidas neighborhood on January 17, 2019, when a burst of gunfire erupted. Isom, a man described as a truck driver and a jack of all trades, was struck by the hail of bullets. First responders rushed to the scene, finding him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
