He and another teenager, 16-year-old Ja'Quan Green, were fatally shot in the 4200 block of Hamburg Street. The incident left a profound void in the lives of their families and the community. arrests were made, and the New Orleans Police Department had not publicly identified any suspects in the case. Despite the official status of the investigation, Rashaad Broussard's family held a strong belief that they knew the identity of the person responsible for his death. They asserted that the individual they suspected was a well-known and dangerous figure in New Orleans, already incarcerated for other violent crimes, including five other murders.
The family's belief that the man in custody was behind Rashaad's murder brought them a small measure of solace, knowing he was no longer a threat to the community.
