On February 9, 2019, officers from the Lake Charles Police Department responded to a call in the 2200 block of Power Center Parkway, where they discovered Henderson with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response from emergency services, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene, leaving a community in shock and searching for answers.
The investigation into Henderson's untimely death quickly focused on a person of interest. Within a couple of days, authorities publicly identified 44-year-old Shannon B. Barlow as the suspect in the fatal shooting. A warrant was issued for Barlow's arrest, charging him with second-degree murder.
