In the summer of 2019, the life of 16-year-old Zachary Reed was tragically cut short. On the late evening of Friday, June 14, 2019, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Zachary, a student at Washington Marion Magnet High School, was found deceased in a vehicle. Alongside him was 28-year-old Donovan Citizen.
The discovery was made by Lake Charles Police who were responding to a call about a car crash in the 1900 block of 5th Street.
Upon their arrival, they found both Zachary and Donovan inside the vehicle, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The investigation into the double homicide was immediately launched by the Lake Charles Police Department.
In the days following the discovery, the authorities publicly identified Zachary Reed and Donovan Citizen as the two victims.
