In the summer of 2018, a violent encounter in Shreveport, Louisiana, set in motion a chain of events that would ultimately claim the life of Justin Lynn Kemp. On the evening of July 29th, the 36-year-old male was with an acquaintance in a vehicle parked at 4920 Jewella Avenue. Investigators believe the purpose of their meeting was related to the sale of narcotics.
Shortly after 9:57 p.m., the scene was shattered by the sound of multiple gunshots.
The gunfire was directed at the rear of the vehicle, with numerous rounds striking Kemp and one hitting his passenger. Kemp suffered life-threatening injuries in the assault. For months, he battled the devastating effects of the shooting. Despite his efforts to recover, the severity of his wounds proved to be insurmountable.
On March 15, 2019, Justin Lynn Kemp succumbed to the injuries he had sustained over seven months prior. His death was classified as a homicide, turning an active investigation into a cold case. In an effort to generate new leads, the Shreveport Police Department publicly released video footage of the crime scene from moments before and after the shooting. A cash reward has been offered by Crime Stoppers for any information that leads to the identification and arrest of the individuals responsible for Kemp's death. As of now, the case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to appeal to the public for assistance in bringing closure to his family, which includes two children.
