In the early morning hours of June 21, 2019, the life of 28-year-old Terrance Tyrone 'Swig' Johnson was tragically cut short in Gramercy, Louisiana. A resident of Gramercy and a native of Vacherie, Johnson was walking on West Railroad Avenue when he was struck by multiple gunshots. The St. James Parish Sheriff's Office and the Gramercy Police Department were alerted to the sound of gunfire at approximately 2:56 a.m. after a local resident reported a bullet had entered their home.
Upon their arrival, authorities discovered Johnson lying on the street, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of the male victim quickly led to the identification of four individuals. Authorities arrested three men in connection with the murder: 24-year-old Terrance E. Davis Jr. of Gonzales, 20-year-old Terraz Kwandell Rayshawn White of Gonzales, and 21-year-old Nathaniel Leblanc Jr. of Convent. These arrests were made in Ascension Parish with the assistance of the local sheriff's office. At the time of their apprehension, a fourth suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile, was also identified but remained at large. The three adult suspects were to be transferred to the St. James Parish Sheriff's Office to face charges related to the homicide.
Terrance Johnson was a father, son, and brother, remembered by his family and a wide circle of friends. His death prompted an appeal from law enforcement for any information from the public that could further aid their ongoing investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
