On a Christmas Eve that should have been filled with warmth and celebration, tragedy struck in Chalmette, Louisiana, forever altering the lives of one family. It was on December 24, 2019, that 18-year-old Gregory Alexander, an African American male, was fatally shot in the 400 block of Pierre Street. The incident, which unfolded around 8 p.m., is believed by authorities to have stemmed from a drug transaction that took a violent turn.
The altercation escalated quickly, resulting in an
exchange of gunfire that not only claimed Gregory's life but also injured two innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. While their injuries were not life-threatening, the event sent shockwaves through the community. The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office launched an immediate investigation into the homicide, piecing together the events that led to the deadly encounter.
In the days that followed, law enforcement made progress in identifying those they believed to be responsible for the death of Gregory Alexander. Two suspects, Dijon Weatherspoon and Quinn Bryant, were taken into custody. Both were charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, reflecting the gravity of the incident that left one young man dead and two others wounded.
The investigation did not end with these initial arrests. Authorities also issued warrants for three additional individuals believed to be involved. Myron Morris, 25, and Davin 'Draco' Williams, 17, were publicly identified as suspects, alongside a 16-year-old whose name was not released due to their age.
