In the late hours of a Saturday in New Iberia, Louisiana, the life of 26-year-old Brandon Malveaux was tragically cut short. On December 21, 2019, in the 100 block of Cotton Street, Malveaux was shot multiple times. First responders found him at the scene and transported him to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The male victim was affectionately known as 'Tato' to his friends and family.
Investigators with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office quickly determined
that the shooting occurred during what they believe was a failed robbery attempt. Their investigation led them to two suspects who were arrested the following day. Tyler Bourque, 23, and Ronald Bourque, 50, were taken into custody and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail. Both men faced charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery in connection with Malveaux's death.
The legal process moved forward, and in July 2020, an Iberia Parish grand jury handed down indictments against both suspects. Tyler James Bourque was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and attempted robbery. Ronald Bourque was indicted on charges of principal to first-degree murder and attempted robbery. At the time of the initial arrests, law enforcement officials indicated that they anticipated more arrests could be made as their investigation continued.
