In the quiet of a Sunday evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, tragedy struck 20-year-old Tyler Tyvon Batiste. On February 9, 2020, a knock at the door of his Bayou Fountain Avenue home would be the harbinger of a fatal encounter. When Batiste, an African American male, went to answer the door around 11:00 p.m., he was met with gunfire. The bullets not only struck him but also penetrated the walls of his residence, even reaching a neighboring home, though thankfully, no one else was injured.
