A young woman is found murdered along I-495
Theresa Corley, a 19-year-old from Bellingham, Massachusetts, was tragically murdered in December 1978. On the night of December 4, Theresa left a bar in Franklin, known as The Train Stop, following an argument with her boyfriend. While attempting to walk home, she encountered several men and ended up at an apartment complex, the Presidential Arms Apartments. It is believed that Theresa was sexually assaulted while there. She eventually left the apartment and was last seen walking along Route 140.
On December 8, her naked body was discovered near Route 495 in Bellingham. She had been strangled, and the crime has remained unsolved for decades. In recent years, renewed efforts, including an exhumation of her body in 2017, aimed to uncover new DNA evidence that could identify her killer. Although DNA was recovered from her clothing, it has not yet led to an arrest, leaving her family still seeking justice after all these years.
Despite the lack of resolution, Theresa's case continues to draw attention, with investigators and her family remaining hopeful that advancements in forensic technology will one day solve the case.
