On May 30, 1985, John Moura, a 42-year-old taxi driver, was found shot in his cab in New Bedford, Massachusetts. His body was discovered at Fort Rodman, slumped over the steering wheel, with the vehicle's engine and meter still running. Moura had been a taxi driver for 13 years, and investigators found no signs of robbery, as his jewelry and wallet remained intact.
