John Cardoso, a 25-year-old man of Cape Verdean descent, became one of Boston's first homicide victims of the new year on January 1, 2010. The fatal incident occurred in the early morning hours, around 2:15 a.m., in the Dorchester neighborhood. Cardoso was discovered outside 315 Geneva Avenue with gunshot wounds.
